Amos was born and brought up in the central highlands of Kenya; at the foothills of the mighty Aberdare Ranges and National Park. He has been a keen wildlife enthusiast all his life. His love for nature begun after joining the Friends of Kinangop Plateau, a local community conservation organisation that works towards the conservation of these unique highland grasslands. Jack is one of the few people who can easily show you the rare Kenyan-endemic; the Sharpe’s Longclaw any day. He has taken part in African Stonechat, Sharpe’s Longclaw, Grey Crowned Crane and Placid Greenbul research projects in Kenya and Tanzania. He has also taken part in filming projects and he assisted a team that was filming the courtship behaviour of the iconic Jackson’s Widowbird. He is a member of the Nairobi Ringing Group, and often takes part in bird ringing activities across Kenya. He has also taken part in the Ringing Course conducted by A Rocha Kenya, at the Mwamba Field Study Centre, along the Indian Ocean Coast. He is a regular volunteer at the Annual Waterfowl Census conducted by the National Museums of Kenya and Nature Kenya. Jack is also a Certified Member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA). He is a skilled vehicle mechanic, a talent that gives him a huge advantage when driving in the remote areas of East Africa. He is a keen contributor to the Kenya Bird Map Project; and is also an active member of Nature Kenya. Jack has a very kind personality and ensures all guests enjoy their tour to the fullest.
John was born and raised in the Central Kenyan highlands, a place rich in biodiversity and history. This immensely developed and influenced his love for the outdoors and adventure. He later joined the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya at his former school. Martin holds a Diploma in Tourism and Wildlife Management from the University of Eldoret and a Certificate in Tour Guiding and Administration from the Wildlife Club of Kenya College (Center for Tourism Training and Research). Over time, he has garnered skills in interpreting the flora and fauna of Kenya; whilst having traveled to most of the tourist circuits in Kenya. Having undertaken his field attachment at the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya Coast Region Office, he was exposed to the history, marine life and cultural heritage of the Kenyan Coast. He has further continued to improve on skills and experience by participating in short courses and trainings like Nature Photography and Drawing Challenges. He is also equipped with First Aid training from St. John’s Ambulance Kenya. He is a certified and licensed safari driver-guide by the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA). He is also a member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA). A day in the field with Martin, is always full of learning and fun.
